The only thing worth watching in Anaconda was Ms Lopez.

My first choice is Swamp Thing - not too original, but what an actress, Adrienne Barbeau, to have seen sink in slowly! After that, perhaps any of the Maureen O'Sullivan Tarzan movies - walking through a swamp in a file doesn't count. Or Bo Derek in the miserable version of Tarzan; however ,that would have been worth watching.

One last strange one: Barbara Eden doing a serious scene in a movie, not the silly Harper Valley TV scene.

Just some thoughts.

Many great missed opportunities as have been mentioned here. I can't count the number of movies I watched hoping for something to happen and it never did. My list is a lengthy one but we'll moderate it here in the interest of plausibility.

Swamp Thing - Adrienne Barbeau made Heather Locklear look like a little girl. The scene should have come right after she was bathing and walked nude into a bog that took her under before "Thing" pulls her out.

Maureen O'Sullivan in any Tarzan flick. According to legend and some fragmentary documentation such as the photo below, a terrific scene was shot for Tarzan Escapes but was deemed too intense and left on the cutting room floor. Jane is a mess as you can see in the photo.

Anaconda - When Carrie Whurher went off the boat into the woods alone I was positive that was the moment. It would have been better than John Voight breaking her neck with a scissor hold.

Ava Gardner in The Naked Jungle. One of Hollywood's all time beauties misses out.

Raquel Welch in One Million Years B.C. Epic, epic, tragedy. Could have changed the world as we know it.

Any one of several intentionally so-bad-they're-good soft core porn flicks by Fred Olen Ray. Quicksand is even mentioned as a potential hazard in Bikini Cops Go Hawaiian. Then the leggiest porn babe goes off by herself only to find a perverted old jungle guy.

What if Princess Leia had gone to Dagoba?

There is one huge obvious scene that should have happened at least once. Mary Ann and Ginger on Gilligan's Island. I can't count the number of times my adolescent mind played with that one.

I could go on but those spring to mind right away.

EDIT - DOH! One of my all time wants was Gena Davis in Cutthroat Island. Instead her dumbass boyfriend ends up in the quicksand. The idea of missing Gena Davis in pirate garb going down is a tough thing to swallow.

It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

Nice list. I concur on many of those, and in several instances was 'already there'.

Tarzan Escapes actually has a rather twisted history to it. It wasn't such a bad movie in the end. But it could have been so much better.

Sigh.

Hmmm....several films and TV programs come to mind. Am going on the idea that the scene would have to plausibly occur where the film setting takes place near a swamp or a mud bog was possible to be present.

Tourist Trap (1979) - One of my all-time favorite horror films that featured a bevy of beautiful damsels in distress.

Squirm (1976) - Takes place in a swamp area, but disappointingly, no real quicksand scene.

Sheena - A quicksand scene featuring the heroine in it would've made this disappointing film tolerable.

Evil Dead I and II - Mysterious forest, ensnaring vines...quicksand perils would've been the coup de grace!

Wonder Woman TV series - Was there any doubt that this show would've been amazing if there was one (or several more)???

If I remember correctly, there was a scene where a guy sunk into a room full of worms that acted like quicksand.

You're correct. 8-)

Before this whole internet thing happened, that picture, which appeared several horror flick rags, actually had some value/appeal.

Yes, in the final fight scene the villain/town bully got engulfed and devoured by the giant worm horde. While it acted like quicksand, it wasn't a real quicksand scene and the film would've been better if there was a quicksand scene or two involving the heroine or her sister. ;)

The "squirm" picture is extremely close to one of my earliest memories of quicksand scenes, and which I have never been able to identify. Unfortunately, that memory is from something a good deal earlier as I was 26 when squirm was released. My memory comes from something at least 20 years older. Great find though.

Dave and Fred - Tarzan Escapes has the long swamp trek at the end - that's the one I said didn't count; they were all walking. But have Maureen O'Sullivan wander off the path ... you know, there could have been a great scene. I didn't think to mention Gilligan's Island - an obvious omission. I would have picked Mary Ann.

the Swamp Thing TV show also had many opportunities, but (sigh) no results.
