There is a long story here, which I will avoid telling, but "people who live in grass houses shouldn't stow thrones."

I think I read that complete story-joke in Readers Digest a long time ago - a clever one.

I have no idea where I first heard it. You are showing your age though. Somewhere, about the same time, a story/joke was circulated (I have no idea where) about "Stalin's Tree Letters." It might be coming around again soon. Do you remember it?

I believe Putin is fumbling through the drawers just now.

He is not going to like what it says if he has reached the third letter.

Fred - no, I don’t remember that one, and yeah, I’m 68 and am indeed showing my age.

OK, well here it is:

Stalin knew he was dying and that Kreswschev would eventually be his successor. So, he wrote three letters, labeled then 1,2,and 3 and gave them to Krewschev with instructions to open the first when he was in real trouble and it would tell him what to do. A few years passed and the replacement was in deep trouble. He open #1. It said "Blame everything on me." He did that and it worked. Then he was in trouble again so he open #2. It said, "Blame everything on the Americans. A few years later there was more trouble, so he opened #3.

What do you suppose it said?

See "3 letters post for the answer.

Overheard comm chatter during a rousing game of Mechwarrior Online:

"Remember, it's not a war crime the first time!"
