Get Used to it; a great many actors are rather long in the tooth, and like it or not, NO ONE is fucking immortal

Noooooooo!

I had the most serious crush on that man when I was about 20!

Considering the roles he took (Elephant Man, Caligula, Rodion Raskolnikov, not to mention the unfortunate dude whose chest burst with an Alien and the other unfortunate fellow who got wrongly hung for a crime he did not commit in "10 Rillington Place"), I am not sure what that says about my taste in men.

Well, maybe it's not so bad. I pride myself on not being a traditional kind of woman.

He had a great speaking voice, and I once taped a documentary he narrated just so I could listen to it any time.

When did he become a Sir, though? I guess I missed that! Well, it's been a few years.

He did a quicksand scene, though. I didn't find out about that until I joined this community, though, which is probably good thing. I might have driven 500 miles to any theatre where that cheesy horror show was playing...around 1980.

The Ghoul. Yeah, that was a pretty cool scene. Grim movie, but quite watchable. :)

Yep.

The relevant action begins one hour and 18 minutes into it. The other guy sinks a bit first. And with that, Sir John becomes on-topic.

Don't forget he played Doctor 8.5 (War Doctor) in the Doctor Who special "The Day Of The Doctor".

I used to watch the series "Merlin", where he played the voice of the dragon "Kilgharrah", and narrated the show's intro.

First intro:

Season 4 intro (changed "young boy" to "young man"):

The dragon:

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hurt , he was knighted on July 17'th, 2015.

Rest In Peace.
