Yeah, pretty much

You have to be a special kind of retard, to think you can just buy a helo and FLY it with zero instruction.
Maybe if your objective is a messy, spectacular suicide on camera....

Money can buy many things. It cannot buy common sense. What kind of airport would even let this happen?

From the look of it, it is probably a small private field, for general aviation. And the footage looks a bit dated too , so no idea when this exactly took place. The other end of the spectrum, would be a guy I remember who bought a warbird, a vintage F6F-5, had all the papers, did his checks, climbed in ,turned the key and flew back from Denver to Calgary. He didn't push the envelope, but he knew he wasn't driving a Cessna :) But flying a 2000 hp real fighter, with no time and just reading the manual? More balls than I

I am really really surprised that they didn't speak Russian. It would explain everything...

I have a friend who (before I met him) had a buddy drive him to another state, bought an ultralight with cash, and flew it home, at night, following roads that he knew.

He had no time in any aircraft prior to that.

Like many of us, he's a teenager trapped in a middle-aged body. He also has nine lives. Hehe

Not that it's impossible, but it's HARDER to kill yourself in one of those. :)
But there should be a category for "Almost a Darwin Award"
