Serial Sinkers RP **EVENT CONCLUDED**
Posted: Fri Jan 01, 2016 9:29 am
With the recent Swamp Run RPs proving to be popular, I’m going to attempt to put one together. This is going to be a bit different from the ones you’ve seen so far. I’m using a plot idea that I didn’t end up using for a story and turning it into an interactive RP.
The Premise
Twelve participants have been selected to appear on a pilot episode of a new game show. “Serial Sinkers”. The goal of the game is for the participants to survive against the murderous intents of three former serial killers, who have been cast as “stalkers”. Each one specialises in one thematic set:
Zuma, the Jungle Lord – wears an Aztec mask and tribal outfit, and resides in a ruined temple in a jungle-themed set. Likes to make use of waterways and vines to ensnare his victims.
Akbal, the Desert Rat – an egocentric Middle Eastern prince. His set is based on the sandy Arabian dunes, with the rolling sands and dried riverbeds concealing hazards.
Frederico, the Kingpin – a mafia-styled gangster, his set is based on an industrial sand mine. He is the most twisted and perverted of the three, and enjoys singling out female victims.
Participants must complete all three sets to be crowned the winner. Each section will also have a unique challenge which, if successfully completed, will grant the participant a “free pass” in the next section (if they make it).
There can be multiple winners. As the goal is not based on speed but on survival, the decisions made by each participant – as well as an element of luck – will determine who will make it.
Entries
Entries are limited to the first 12 valid submissions. To enter, you need to indicate the following:
Name:
Gender:
Age:
Clothing:
Background Biography:
Do note that as a game show, it is expected that entrants are dressed in comfortable, casual clothing. This isn’t a place to bring bikinis, waders, power armour, etc.
Human entrants only. As a typical game show, the entrants are ‘average’ – no superpowers, and any exceptional qualities will not grant benefits in the running of the show (e.g. a weightlifter will not get a bonus in the event strength is required). Background info is only intended to give participants more to work with and add depth to the dialogue and detail in the role play.
Example:
Name: James G.
Age: 25
Clothing: Casual button-up shirt, jeans
Background Bio: James is a college graduate who completed a degree in game design. James is interested in creating edgy video games that push the boundaries of violence and sex, but has not managed to find a company that shares his vision.
Rules
Throughout each stage, the stalker will trap the contestants in some way. The contestants must then decide what to do based on the given choices. The success of each choice will be determined by a die roll. Some decisions will be more stacked for certain outcomes (these values are hidden). For example, a character trapped in a quicksand vat may choose to seduce the stalker, which may have a greater success probability if the stalker is prone to seduction (based on character and progress).
Some options may allow the involvement of multiple participants for increased success probability. For example, several contestants may choose to save one. However, while the odds of survival are better, each participant must succeed in their own rolls, meaning that there is an element of risk in going back to rescue survivors. This may be a challenge later on, as the hazards become more perilous and the odds of survival diminish.
There may also be special rolls for one-off events.
The result of each roll will be published and the narrative will progress based on the rolls. Participants will have 24 hours to input the choices presented, or else their choice will be determined by die roll. Participants are free to interact with each other as they wish as part of the roleplay, but only their decisions and outcomes will govern the progress of the RP.
