Image upload problem

Postby rhinodynamo » Sun Mar 22, 2015 11:49 pm

Today I tried to upload an image and was told that the image was invalid. Does anyone know the technical reason for this?

A moderator could likely provide better info here, but all forums have a setting that controls what image (and other) file formats can be uploaded and where they can be uploaded. Its possible you image was not in an allowed format. I don't know if such files are also screened to make sure they really are in the format they claim to be but a renamed or damaged file could, I suspect, also be a cause. Some systems also have an upper limit on file size.

It's been a while but yes, I do recall that there was a 5mb limit on individual files.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

Jpeg of 5 MB is certainly too big. I am not sure about this forum, but it is too big in principle.

Indeed, 5mB is SO large it never occurred to me that the size was the issue when you described the upload failure of an image file. A jpeg that large can be easily converted by many programs into a compressed jpeg of probably a tenth of that size. Maybe smaller.
