Change in video formats that can be uploaded?

Postby mudxdresser » Sun Oct 04, 2015 3:06 pm

Something must have changed, I can no longer upload videos in .mpg format. Can someone tell be what formats are currently supported? Thanks!

Attachment permissions vary from forum to forum. In forums, where video attachments are allowed, all the popular extensions are supported.

It's possible that you were able to upload to one forum, but not another (more recently).

I just can't recall efficiently which public forums support video attachments, but I'm sure that 'Home Movies' does.

Are you sure the issue is the file format? There is also a limit to the file SIZE. I am unsure if any message associated with a failure can distinguish the two issues.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 13 different producers. Info may be found at:

The feedback on files too large can be pretty vague, admittedly.

But the software is very clear on when a particular extension is not allowed.

Tried again just now. The error message is "mpg file extension not allowed". Tried to post in Nuggets as it is an edited Tarzan clip and not really appropriate for Home Movies.

Yea, I intentionally did not allow video attachments in the Nuggets forum. Hence the "Share Your Media Finds! Includes scans and incidental on-topic images, as well as links to on-topic items at photo and video sharing sites." lingo in the description.

The idea was to keep the site disk space from being chewed up by mainstream media clips (yea I know, we chew it up a but with producer clips, but what can I say?). Maybe you could upload to a video sharing site such as Youtube and then link to it.

Thanks for the update! Makes sense, why waste bandwidth. Will post it on a video sharing website and link to it.
