Argh, I'll have to get this one, just because of that level. >>

In earlier builds, the player character faints rather than sink, losing all HP. The one presented in the DA link is a more recent version, where the player actually sinks, causing the player to lose 1 HP this time.

I found out about a different death with the swamp that involves using the Blink spell on it... But it wasn't shown...

Here's proof of the alternate swamp death:

Although Romancing SaGa 3 for the SNES lacks quicksand pits in its desert area, the closest substitute to such a thing is a sand river that the player could slog through. A sprite hack, applied using RS3ExTool2, was used in the aforementioned video clip.

ActRaiser 2, another SNES title, has the bogs of Industen, which cause heavy damage upon landing, so an invincibility cheat was used in the video in order to display the player trudging through it as he sinks.

The dungeon crawler, Sakura Dungeon, has a scene where Maeve gets a mud bath and a massage by a group of mud girls in their mire.

I approve of the idea. :)

There is some quicksand in Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. I haven't made it to that point yet, though.

Problem with it is it's too fast. Pretty much, if you don't jump immediately, you die as soon as it reaches her forehead, and you sink slightly slower than falling speed. There is a spot that leads to a hidden room, though, which is obvious to identify.

I would probably still love playing in it, though.

Okurete Sumimasen, an indie game developed in RPG Maker XP, has the Mushroom Swamp, where the player gets slower by going deeper in the muck, which happens after a few seconds, leading to an instant game over upon full submersion.
