His buddies kept getting offed, and one of them bit it in a quicksand trap. I am pretty sure it was probably dreadful with (likely) no actual sinking - I do remember a sand encrusted hand clutching a golf club - and certainly not as good as the fantasies that sprang from it. Even so, I would still love to see it again. Alas, I can not remember the name of the show, and any and all internet searches have proved futile.

Well, I only got three channels growing up in rural New York State, an ABC, CBS, and NBC station, so it was on one of those ... I don't think it lasted longer than a few episodes.

So, I tried another search for that John Candy Golf horror spoof that I was talking about, even though similar searches in the past returned no results. However, this time I struck pay dirt - it was from a comedy special, a 90-minute pilot for, reportedly, a summertime Saturday Night Live replacement called "Welcome to the Fun Zone" that only aired once. In it, Candy presented a bit called "The Golf Course that Dripped Blood." Sadly, no video of this seems to exist.
But, I at least feel better knowing I did not imagine this!
