wizard of oz sticky and sinking story

i was wondering if anyone had heard of this or had written something like this or would be interested in doing a fic. dorothy gets herself stuck on the road and then later on has a quicksand or something encounter maybe mud not sure.

In one of the books, the is a chapter where they have to cross a desert that you sink in. Remember reading it and being a bit disappointed but she definately sink.
