Investigated a couple of muddy locations on a recent trip home to Scotland.

The majority are from the River Nith mudflats, wasn't able to do any sinking but took a walk and certainly got my boots nice and muddy, sinking 2 inches into the surface with every step.

There are also a couple of from a peat bog at Lanark Loch. I've sank to my waist in this spot before, very thick.

In Scotland, you say? I might have to take a look myself, if they're local enough.

Well if you are in Central Scotland then Lanark is certainly not too far. The river Nith is probably an hour drive but the mud flats are very open, people walk their dogs along the side all day.

Ah, I see. Normally I would, but I've had to take my car off the road since I couldn't afford it. Still, I'll keep it in mind if I start being able to afford to drive again.

Cool to see the Grimpen Mire exists.... or its spiritual cousins, anyway. :D

Thanks for the pictures.

Terrific look to some of those. I don't suppose they have a lot of 35C days there?

Having lived in the central belt all my life? Nope =p We're lucky if we break 20.
