Last nights episode (2/17/17) had Jack & MacGyver chest deep in quicksand in the opening sequence. No explanation as to how they got there.
The only thing MacGyver could think of to get them out was to yell for help. No explanation after that. And it had nothing to do with the rest of the show.

Thanks for the heads-up. It looks like three weeks before that episode airs here in Australia.

There's quality in that quag, no doubt. Pity they didn't do more with it. But I'm not going to quibble.
This would be a great set up to be rescued by a tribe of cute jungle girls, though...

Re: MacGyver
I think the show missed an opportunity with this episode. I could see them doing a whole episode centered around the Quicksand. MacGyver and Jack would spend the whole episode sinking ever so slowly and would have flashbacks leading up to how they stuck in the first place. The climax would be the team finding them just in time. At least that's how I would do it, but I'm not CBS.

Hello:
An article about filming the series includes a brief
description of how 'unpleasant' it was to film that
particular scene.

I am quite certain that most people here would
have a far different opinion.
