Cool locale for certain. Looks like it could be a set from a horror film...

That stuff in the last two pix looks sooo nice and thick, fun for struggling all the way under (as long as there is a cleanup area nearby and the area is not in public view), a bit less clothed (especially no boots), on a hot summer's day!
I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

It's a nature reserve without any real access (like almost all bogs over here). That's a former lakebed and there is also a remaining pond somewhere behind. To get to it you have to cross the "firm" forested part (pictured) and an additional wet area with reeds and weeds (almost impassable).
Sinking vertically all the way under is possible but i would not recommend it because you would not come back, because this stuff is really thick and heavy. I even hadn't wet socks in the last pic.
I have had lots of experience with very thick bogs. With nothing on my feet, and very little clothing, if any at all, I can work myself under and back up again, albeit slowly. However, there are limitations on how deep I go under depending on its thickness, due to it taking longer for a "round trip" in thicker stuff (I can hold my breath for only so much time), unless I use a breathing tube/hose.
