I guess I'm more of a guy with a "stuck" fetish rather than sinking but nevertheless love the idea of quicksand. I somewhat recently discovered that i had it since it started when i was at the beach and just happened to pedal pump and legs and got a little bit stuck in quicksand. I loved that feeling of trying to pull your legs out. I personally am I not experienced with sinking beyond knee deep level but it would be interesting to try it. It's feels hard to open up about it so I am glad that there is a place on the internet for it. Any other sinkers from Washington state that can recommend some areas now that I finally have a vehicle?

Welcome sk76er. I am a new member also.

I just recently started seeking out locations and I am surprised how many places there are when I started to think about it(something that I am preoccupied with at the moment). There are a lot of rivers where I live and sediment is a very common problem in the streams. So when the rivers get low... voila. I found such a location yesterday. I stopped at a bridge over a river and looked below the abutment. There was a shiny little mud flat about 10x25 feet. My heart throbbed, I am sure that you know the feeling. I can also see silt islands forming. A kayaking trip would be interesting with the streams getting down there.

Another consideration is that these locations are usually good for fishing and in MN you can access waterways using bridges. Last night I went "fishing" under that bridge. I used a rope because I had no idea what to expect. The mud is sticky clay with a fine silt layer on top. I sank about to my knees without trying and to my chest with a lot of work. If I had not tied a safety rope to a small tree above me I am not sure if I would have been able to get out . Knees ... yes, waist ... maybe, chest ... I highly doubt it. Next time I will not use the rope so much for balance and put my hands in the mud. I should have just had it there to use after getting really stuck. I cannot imagine going out without a rope in that stuff.
