handling privacy when bog exploring

I proceeded to start sinking in the quicksand while standing in full view of any boats that would pass by. And many did as I sank down deeper and deeper. Despite sinking down to the nipples on my chest, NOT ONE SINGLE BOAT OR JET SKI ever bothered to stop and investigate. Nobody ever asked if I needed any help whatsoever. And yet, there I was, in plain view, apparently stuck deep down in quicksand right smack in the middle of the beach.

I bet that if you started waving your arms frantically, a boater or other person on the beach would stop and check on you. The boater probably wants to avoid getting stuck in the mud.

I think that others would expect you to call for help if you needed it.

A good prop (and safety device) would be one of those stand up paddle boards. "Yep officer, I slipped off my paddle board. Kind of muddy here."

Arm waving might’ve done it. But yelling wouldn’t do any good, as you’ll rarely if ever hear anyone yelling from the shore over your boat motor. The problem was, several boats were only a pebble’s throw from the shore. One boat was so ridiculously close that had he turned to starboard, he’d of run me over. People are just too busy doing their own thing to bother paying attention to much of anything else. And when a boat goes by that has everyone looking down, that’s because they can’t be bothered enough to be pulled away from their damn phones. Fortunately, a good majority of the boats will finally be gone after tomorrow.

I’m not about to give some boater any indication that I might need help, because with my luck they wouldn’t come over to check on me. Instead they’d of called the Coast Guard for a rescue. The last thing I want is to have the Coast Guard wasting money and time
