Now, what that would be in English Pounds I haven’t got a clue, but it would still be $10,000 in US dollars until I either spent some of it or someone snuck up behind me and knocked me out…so they could steal all my money.

Hey guess what, I just happened to find a couple hundred grand of Rubles in a trash can, I wonder if that might cover it, and more? I also wonder why someone would so carelessly throw away money like that?

The original amount guoted above was in British pounds. The sentence was clearly intended to say if he had so many pounds, converted to dollars, estimating that to be 18650.00. The "adjusted for inflation" has no meaning as there was no time period mentioned. Inflation is a change in buying power that occurs over time.
