The original amount guoted above was in British pounds. The sentence was clearly intended to say if he had so many pounds, converted to dollars, estimating that to be 18650.00. The "adjusted for inflation" has no meaning as there was no time period mentioned. Inflation is a change in buying power that occurs over time.
