Educated guessing

In the experience of anyone here who's found a successful spot, what does this one look like? I'd like to explore it and I probably will anyway, but what can anyone tell me about it from these shots? For example, does the way the creek bend there make it more promising? All educated guessing is appreciated

The outside of the creek bends have water pressure upward from the flow velocity of the water - it wants to go straight instead of turning - likely to be soft spots there. Looks like a good place to try.

Looking at the above images, I do see some interesting stuff. In the main channel, I see the bars that appear to have rocks (white specks) and gravel, although there could be some areas of localized quicksand there. In the main channel, just above a long narrow bar that appears to have rocks/gravel, is what appears to be finer sinkable sediments, but they appear to be submerged in this picture. Below that skinny rocky gravel bar is a pool of water which appears to have a finer sediment bottom, with some of it exposed in a straight line on the top edge of the main bar below it (darker brown stuff on the top edge of that main bar). There is a good chance that it may be shallow that close to the bar, but you would have to check it out just in case. The main area that looks the most promising is in the side channel and oxbow lake above the main bend, where the finer browner sediments are definitely obvious, with definite sinking possibilities! You should inspect that area thoroughly! The darker colors in the main channel seem to suggest deeper water, so areas of finer, browner sediments adjacent to that (exposed mostly above it in those pictures) could also be deep. There may be other places to check along that creek as well, upstream and downstream, outside the two pictures.

But, keep in mind that the water levels vary depending on season, and how much precipitation has fallen. So, don't be surprised if you find that places exposed in the pictures are submerged early in the season. Later on in the season, places that are submerged in the pictures may be exposed, expanding the sinking possibilities. You just have to visit the area more than once to get a feel for the change in those water levels so you can return there at the optimum time.
