Okay, enough rambling. Anybody else have this kind of nightmare? And other than the obvious fears of being "outed" and of an uncontrollable addiction to sinking, any thoughts on what (if anything) this means?

quicksand nightmare
Hey, gang. I had my first nightmare about quicksand last night. It was disjointed, and wrapped up in a ton of unrelated "brain garbage" but it was definitely a quicksand nightmare. Apparently I had been rescued from a mud pit- either after almost going under, or a near drowning, or hypothermia, or some combination thereof. I was in the hospital. I had obviously been "outed" as a quicksander in the worst possible way. There was mud all over the hospital bed and hospital room, since I had been brought in covered in it. In the dream, I knew that this particular mud pit was a deathtrap- and I went back. Normally when I dream about deep mud or quicksand, this is a very good thing, especially if there are females involved. Not this time. I just couldn't stay away from the mud. And once I was in it, I was done for. In the dream, it was the kind of mud you can get very, very stuck in- but it was also sucking me down. I ended up going all the way under- I think for the first time in a dream. And I couldn't get out. I was running out of air, struggling desperately- and then I woke up.

Very rarely dream about anything and when it's gets on topic usually about one of two things - Being on some wild ass video shoot adventure with Dave or dialing 911 and being unable to get anyone's attention for some emergency. The dreams about photo shoots are almost always very fun and happy. In spite of all the crazy stuff I've gotten away with I think I've repressed the notion of being "outed" to the point where it can't enter my mind subconsciously.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Yes I have had these kinds of dreams. Its interesting you say you were out of sorts before going to bed. Quicksand in the dreams is your subconscious mind saying you are stuck and drowning in your current predicament. Like being chased by tornadoes in a dream signifies great inner turmoil or your teeth falling out as a sign you are unhappy with you appearance. But I have had these dreams from time to time and they can be very frightening. Best of luck to you trying to sort out whatever it is that is taking away your fun quicksand dreams.
