Actually I have a somewhat different solution in mind, which I will not reveal until it is a reality, but your points are well-taken. Originally the site did have a cascading structure but it stopped working - not sure why. Stay tuned.

The Studio588 home page is monstrously long due to the listing of every DVD title and its vintage GeoCities look with its bulleted list structure. I imagine you're not investing much time in web design, but on a basic design level, I would suggest compressing your pages. Most of your Facilities pages, for example, are only a paragraph of text, so it may be worth just having one page that lists all of the facilities, one page for all of the Sets, etc. The DVD titles take up the most space, so perhaps have a page for each "series" so that there are only 3-4 links under the subheading instead of 70+.

Since scenes can't be bought through the site, I would think that improving navigation would make it much easier for first-time buyers and encourage them to purchase more frequently.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:

Intriguing, I must say.

I have to agree, most definitely Fred should re-vamp his site's organization. Not that's it's not unuseable, but with the enormous number of scenes, combined over two websites, quasi non-traditional payment methods (that's not his fault though), the moderator is right, it's a lot of work to sometimes even just find the scene you are interested in. It works, but it's getting to the point where it's so much, and so big now that it's going to require an overhaul I would think.
I't's got to be all on one site, organized as much as possible...I dont understand why even now he uses two sites instead of focusing on just one. I would suggest maybe just doing away with all the "DVD" numbers and just listing each scene alphabetically. The search box is pretty decent as is--you can type in a model's name and it will tell you what scenes they were in. I think though you might need separate pages for "peril", "comedic", "submersion vs no submersion", "actress name" "location" "qs type", all kinds of variables might have to be donated their own space. That way one can sort of narrow down in a hierarchical like tree scenes they might like. Like a flow chart set up..that would be interesting. So like start by clicking on "peril", then choose "qs type", then prompted for chosing actress next...you get the idea. Maybe ten or so variables, then it lists those scenes that meet the criteria. Each scene should have vidcaps/teaser (youve got that covered already).
To Dave: I believe you in saying it's tough to reprogram. I can sorta see youve got operating costs that may necessitate a monthly fee. I am wondering if your recent comments about UMD is actually going to pan out ina way where, the newest scenes go right to UMD at the same time they go to the pay site. And if you would actually upload ALL of your scenes to a UMD like store down the road. Sounds like a huge task. Hoping it can be done though.

There is a reply to rickyj's post in the Studio forum.

I think a lot of folks following this topic would be surprised to learn that only a minority of Club MPV subscribers purchase scenes. Club MPV started as a subscription site and will always be one.

The trick is to move the pay-per-scene function out from under it. Download stores are not a solution for me because I am not challenged for payment processing or hosting like most contemporary producers. So, there's no point in losing 30% of sales revenue. The challenge is affording adult-friendly programming expertise that comes with after-the-fact support. And, this time of the year is not the time to be considering that type of expense. ;)

Dave

You just continue doing what you are doing. You put up the money and time and in a good capitalist society if we like it we buy it (...and I do). Seems to have worked pretty well for you so far and for a great many of US...we say THANK YOU!

As for Rickyj...maybe if he doesn't like your system he could put up his own money and time and SHOW US how it should be done. Sounds to me he just doesn't have enough discrecionary cash to stay on your site. And in his owm words he doesn't "understand" what it takes to do what you do. To him I say buy what you want when you can and be thankful you have all the choices you have!

This is an eclectic group with choices of all kinds. Support the forums you like...its that simple.

Just my 2-cents...

Thx

:o
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.
