You may as well expect any body of fresh water from Tampa- Orlando-Cocoa > South to have a gator in it in Florida. As ferocious as they are I've found a fist full of firecrackers will generally put to flight anything in nature. At least for a while. It's a great way to clear an area before you go in.

Here's a great story that was in the news two days ago. A Mississippi woman landed a 13' 8" (About 4 meters) 'gator for a record wild catch.

It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

He didn't say he was carrying heavy jugs of water. He said he was carrying jugs of heavy water.

The difference between this and a saltie (salt water crocodile) is that you made it back to post your photo, as opposed to being the subject of a manhunt that ends with a singular cull. :)

Still I hear Florida has more than its fair share.

I vacation in Florida semi-regularly and have had a few encounters...........basically a cranky Iguana. Don't poke it with a stick and it (probably) won't bite you. :D

Something to be wary of is after sinking in an area in alligator country, doing cleanup in the water could be hazardous, especially if the washing motions mimic thrashing of their potential prey in the water, forcing them to investigate, with anticipation of a meal!

In addition to the risks during cleanup, I can almost picture someone sunk to their neck in mud, when an alligator suddenly shows up unexpectedly, and then crunches down on that person's head!
I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

If the Alligator drank said Heavy Water, this is the start of a really bad (or really good, depending on your tastes) SyFy movie. ATOMIC GATOR!

Then of course we'll have Atomic Gator vs. Sharktopus, Atomic Gator vs. Sharknado, Atomic Gator vs. Predator, Atomic Gator vs. Monster Zero, Atomic Gator vs. Gamera, etc. ;)

Also, were you really carrying actual heavy water? What were you planning to do, exactly, before the alligator stopped you? I thought this was about quicksand, not nuclear reactors... :P
