I was thinking about making a board rule that prohibits inquiries into content that was posted more than six months prior. Maybe it ought to be three months. In any case, I will take steps to curb this if it continues to be a problem.

I would hope that such a board rule wouldn't apply to member submissions, such as stories and drawings from years ago; I've only recently started looking through old submissions and wondering if I should comment on or compliment someone's work from the past, even if it's "ancient."

Comments and compliments are not inquiries.

I know it can be a nuisance, but I was also taught "It never hurts to ask". Troubling problem here.

How WOULD someone make an acceptable inquiry in such a case? We do have stuff posted here 2 decades old that are still available in some places. "Never ask" seems too blanket a proposal. Perhaps I am wrong.

Just curious. I'm not trying to make waves here.
