If it's mud and not actual sand (since you mentioned an estuary I'm guessing it is) extraction even from neck deep isn't strenuous. Just lean back and sort of gyrate your body back and fourth and let your own natural buyoncy bring you to the surface. I use that technique all the time, works like a charm and saves you from pulled muscles. 8-)

Hi guys just gotta apologise about my original post.

Was really about me just said girlfriend instead of wife but was really about me wanting to go deeper.

Apologies to everyone especially my wife who freaked when she saw this.

She wanted to see me sink chest deep, as she likes to watch.

However, cheers for all the advice guys.
