Yup...I have often felt bad about it. The gender ratio is insanely skewed. If you're a girl, though, the problem lies in getting wayyyy too many responses if you even poke a nose in! There is no way the girls here could help them all even if most of us could.

My last new mud partner was back in 2005. After that, it was "Same Old Guys". But the last traveling I enjoyed, period, was in 2008 now.

I only looked for mud partners, though. Not dates. A good mud partner is a wonderful thing but you don't need nearly as much as you do for a potential life mate.

For a life mate, you also need to consider stuff like incomes...housing...children, yes, no, and how many...housekeeping habits...and there's sex outside of the mudpit to consider too!

Just add a quicksand fetish in both parties and for the woman to live in the same area too...wow...it's asking a lot!

I did think when I first went onto this site a few years ago (actually the deepsinking site) that it would be a good forum for dating. I came into contact with apparently a female who lives close by to me (name will go unmentioned) and told me all about how she would love to sink in quicksand with very specific detail and had done in before all around the area. I knew she was from the area since she referred to places I was familiar with, and other people not from here wouldn't know. So we kept talking about meeting up waiting until the weather was warm talking a lot about it but it kept being dragged on and on, and it never happened.

So as exciting as the reality was about it, the forum does seem to be more suited for just sharing quicksand ideas. But I've always been interested in the reality of sinking in quicksand and meeting preferably females who have the same interest. But the problem has been identified above, that you have 1000:1 ratio of male to female which makes this very difficult.

I think the ratio, according to some informal data collection reported a long time ago by Nessie, is more like 94:6. Nevertheless, there is another block that I think serves to reduce the likelihood of much success for the idea of "quicksand dating." That is the very clear fact that quicksand is often use, here as elsewhere, as a metaphor for sex. Thus, meeting up to go sinking can be pretty easily interpreted as meeting up to have sex in some mud. Not likely to happen.

On the other hand, the "meeting," is quite different. There is nothing implied other than coming face to face. No contact other than perhaps a handshake, no concerns about a second date, nothing sexual even hinted at. It would be my opinion, and that's all it could be, that if people here talked about meeting instead of meeting for sinking, they would have a much better chance of achieving that. Before I built Studio 588 I was able to meet several of the members of the groups that preceeded quicksandfans. All of them were male but that did not matter a whit because we were just meeting to say hello. Since building the Studio I have met many, many more members here, some of them as crewmen, some as people who came to use the pits, some who just came to have a look, and some who I met elsewhere, just to meet. And, several of them were female. More than one ended up trying out the pits and being filmed doing so. But in all of that, there was never any suggestion, by either party that any further sort of relationship ought to be established.

So, what I am suggesting is that people talk about meeting instead of talking about meeting for sinking. As is widely recommended for any sort of meeting with someone contacted on line or any other means, an initial meeting is most wisely held in a "safe" place. That generally means a public place with lots of other people around.

I mean, I never was real open to sinking with other women. And I don't sink with male-female couples, and I don't take on "mud parties" or "mud events" (hey, it's a fetish and it's really just not a group kind of thing for me). The mud partner's always been one guy, and I need to know him VERY WELL (although this is not a lifetime commitment, and considering how hard good sinking partners are to find at all, it probably isn't a good idea to try to turn it into that).

Meet you for dinner if you're drifting through, though? There ain't a lot of people here that I wouldn't go meet even just for coffee. I even have a place that I always use just for this!

I can see a really bad romance novel coming out of this. QS guy finally meets QS girl online, they meet up, then go sinking together. Unfortunately it turns out that the two of them have nothing in common except a mutual sexual attraction and the QS fetish. But they keep getting pulled into each others' orbits like two rogue planets, spiraling closer and closer to the inevitable fiery cataclysm.
