the main stream is a hard sandy bottom.. with the resalination of Pilgrim lake...formerly the East Harbour of Ptown.
The reed beds are dieing off and decomposing in areas, leaving , at low tide, black, greasy ooze ankle deep to waist deep slurry , depending on where one steps..
Its a neat hatchery now, and home to many small fish, blue crabs and, this year, horseshoe crabs.. tread lightly
The outlet goes under 6 and 6a , and has a concrete jetty, visible at low tide adjacent Whites cottage colony

That sounds like one hell of a place! It seems as if with the reed beds decomposing, that you're basically stepping from the ankle-deep mud to the waist-deep mire of the lake bed at low tide..although, in my experience, lake beds themselves can start off with pretty shallow mud. I assume that there is ample privacy at this location? How often have you been there?

Hey all, I figure that this thread needs a substantial update! Don't let my being quiet for the past month iindicate anything else, other than the fact that I was successful in engaging in some swamp rompin', indeed. Our fellow poster ht88, who I now consider a good friend, has introduced me to the watery peat bog he once posted about a while back, located off a wooden trail somewhere in MA. Even before that unforgettable excursion, I had him come up to my local tidal marsh, which was certainly a new experience for him. It's as if city slicker (my city-bordering tidal marsh) and country boy (his peat bogs) traded places for a change! Well, almost...I've spent enough time in the country as well, but I never experienced a bog quite this deep until ht88 lead me out to his.

I am proud to say also that in the latter bog, I also achieved full submersion for the first time while standing up. As ht88 as explained before, the bog mud gets about chest deep at most, but with the churned-up consistency he had it at prior to the evening (July 27th) we headed out there, it was incredibly easy to be swallowed in and to pull yourself under. For now, you can read ht's latest account of that location, in which he gets into some pretty fine detail, if I say so myself! However, our exploits from last month are bound to get you all just as hot and bothered (since the slime and ooze there was pretty amazing..), and perhaps makes you laugh, too (let's just say there was a comic mishap on my part, which resulted in an impromptu camping trip --- yeahh, nah, neither of us were laughing, then. Haha).

That story from July shall come soon! In the meantime, I'm looking forward to returning to the now greatly thickened, smelly, farting bog that is heaven.
