Who would have thought the foundation of a relationship was in the relation and not the interests?
Sadly quite a few folks.

Still, typing as an old bastard of sorts I can attest to your partner indulging your interests if the relating part of the relationship is working.
There will never be any specifics. ;)

I've had to sit through my fair share of costume dramas over the years, so I can attest to the power of indulging your partner for the sake of relating to each other.
They are technically the same broad spectrum despite one being clearly dirtier than the other.

I mean, seriously, Downtown Abbey?
That show is filthy!

Into quicksand specifically? Yeah, pretty unlikely. Depending on your particular brand of quicksand fetishism, though, there are a lot of kinks that run parallel to ours. WAMers can enjoy it for the messiness, peril fetishists are can jump right in, anyone into bondage could find similarities in thick sucking muck, and submissives can get off on the power play of it all. They might not be directly into quicksand, but if you look for people who are open minded in their sexuality, you can probably find someone who will at least indulge your interest. Especially if you're willing to go along with whatever equally weird shit they're into.

Without mutual interests, a relationship can't relate. But the problem is that you really need more than one interest to maintain anything over time and usually, other interests, like how to pay for rent, whether to have kids, where to go for vacation, what you believe about life in general...and whether you get along with your in-laws...that often dominates heavily over sexual interests.

What's actually missing here is that people are somehow not considering the value of temporary, specialized, but totally honest relationships. These can be quite close in many ways. With the internet, friendships can be well-maintained over long distances and, being limited in nature (quicksand), will not interfere in other aspects of life.

I mean, say, you find yourself in quicksand, and you realize that the person you are with has a brain that is living in another world entirely...

It's okay. You are both going home.

To houses in different states.

It's true Nessie that shared interests are important however I've known quite a few couples I've known come apart as while they still share interests they do stop relating to one another.
I guess that was what I was driving at.

And we cultivate all manner of relationships in our lives.
For example, the master/servant relationship between a pet and its owner.
Which, more often than not,is entirely inverted.
Those old dudes (and ladies) from the times of yore before the Internet cracked tablets about the myriad forms of love and relationships.
I'd quote some of them but that was involve a degree of education in what they actually did say! ;)

Merry Christmas everyone!

I am not sure if it is so absurd. 3 out of the 4 women I have been with have played in the mud and sank with me and for me. The other one knew and didn't care but was not into it. Mud Bunny is right, you have to date the right type of people. My wife for example is pretty much into all the fetishists I am into. Quicksand, vore, bondage and so on. The more kinks they are into the more likely they will be open to other things. So this is two women who are into sinking and watching others sink. Not sure if your argument is sound.

You could possibly take part of the credit, though...

Because I've noticed that the greatest successes seem to be with those who are 100% comfortable in their own interests. You wouldn't actually be the only one with multiple wives who played and sank in the mud. And out of the ones I know of, one thing that they had in common would be that they had not an iota of shame or shyness about it.

Instead of breaking it to her like some deep dark secret, or feeling that she must somehow be coerced into playing along (for we all know that if men like it, women hate it, right?) he knows it's fun, and he has invited her to share the fun.

I actually have a first hand experience with this topic. Back in 2008, I first found this site, formally known as Deepsinking, when I finally discovered that there were many people like me who had a quicksand fetish. To my surprise, when searching the site, there was a female that lived very close to me, that discussed her real life experiences of sinking in quicksand. Thus, we made contact and began chatting separately. After a few months, we started talking about meeting up to sink in quicksand, and it developed from sharing stories, to pictures and videos, to planning on experiencing together. I was convinced that the other person lived close since she was completely familiar with the area.

Our discussions built up intensely through the winter to the point where we developed an online relationship basically, and I was convinced we were going to meet up. Well, it never happened and I was incredibly disappointed. We actually did not have any contact for almost a year and then recontacted each other again. Although our discussions were intense, I could never verify by phone or meeting up, that this person was real. I so wanted to believe that we would be a happy couple sinking together that I put off dating other people for a while. Eventually, I gave an ultamatim (it was 2 years at this point) that we were going to meet, or that was it, and our conversation ended abruptly. I was so so hopeful that it was depressing for a little bit when it did not work out.

Now going back to what Mudbunny said, I did date someone thereafter who was not exactly into the quicksand fetish, but into the damsel in distress. She got stuck in a doggie door, under a bed and stuck with her arms in a laundry chute for hours, which I like, but she did not like the quicksand aspect of it. I just kept an open mind about it. Although that relationship ended also, I just keep an open mind about my fetishes now, and if someone is sincere about sharing fetishes, I am happy to discuss and share stories. I can't lie, I still am disappointed, that I never experienced quicksand sinking with another female except for once which was a complete accident and unexpected ( I tried a few times myself which was not as good but still enjoyable), but it was a lesson learned about not getting obsessed with having to meet the girl into sinking in quicksand, and more about enjoying the site and sharing with people different experiences and interests.

How did that come about? Sounds like an interesting story.

I live by the beach. Me and my beautiful ex were walking along the bay in a secluded area. We both sank in the sand up to our knees which is not uncommon in low tide. However, she had sunk in a lower spot and got stuck. Instead of just lying on her back and trying to get out, she panicked and sunk up to her waist. I could not reach her so ran to get my surfboard which was not to far away, when I got back she was up to her chest which i think was keeping her from sinking further. I laid out on my surfboard and pulled her out. It took some time but I got her out. If it wasn't for my surfboard she may have been in trouble. We laughed about it afterwards but she was too scared to even walk by the bay again.
