Manure. I've always liked the thought of a sexy farm lady, in tight faded jeans, going out to clean a barn, and falling in a sticky manure pit.

I've never really truly sunk, but in the fantasy sense, I love them all. My favorites, though, would be jungle quicksand, desert quicksand, tar, and manure.

Thick peat that has seen some drying so that you can carefully walk over it! Both for sinking myself and for watching.
Very deceptive and sticky. It's a terrific experience when you sink over your head in such stuff and you're still able to breathe because the hole in the surface of the bog will only close very, very slowly. (Edit: Just like Kym in my Avatar)

I have been in tidal mudflats, too and this has always been a super messy and much more muddy sink than in any peat-bog. There are areas where i just do an easy mudwalk over solid or just ankle-deep mud and two steps later i hit the soft spot and end in a real mess up to my armpits. When i'm finally able to extricate myself my boots or my waders or the rest of my gear is covered in a multiple inches-thick layer of grey goo.
Sidenote: And no, mudflats are not quicksand, it's fine sediment of various consistency/ingredients that accumulates over long periods of time over a solid bottom. Yes, in places it can become "quick", but that is much rarer than you think.

Claypits are nice to watch, but i'm too afraid of illegal trespassing.
Manure or worse stuff is just gross.

I agree with sinkercutie about jungle quicksand. The type from the old movies.

I don't do any of that actual sinking into the stuff like some of you on this thread may do, but I am curious about this 'black sand' quicksand substance. Like Hollywood quicksand only dark or actually black. It's the same substance in the movie "Border Incident' with Ricardo Montelban sinking in it. It's also like the one in that Arab game show when the dragon comes out and taunts their victims sinking in the sand. It moves and undulates just the way I like it. Is it made of gravel, or some other substance? Maybe Styrofoam beads perhaps? Maybe this was already mentioned on this thread and I missed it, with apologies!, Just curious!!

From "Valley Of Mystery" : Don't struggle and do not thrash around; that just makes things worse!

since i have my own clay pit i have to choose clay where else can you get that creamy sensation all over your body i add a lot of hot water often for bouancy and still retain the balance of creamy clay and because i installed hot air bubble jets at the very bottom it makes the clay more enjoyable helps heat the pit and i can move sink and breathe much better otherwise it would be impossible to completely submerge and be hard on your chest to breathe

I picked clay. I now realize that clay particles are smaller than silt particles. I think that the stuff I sink in is very little sand, mostly silt, and the rest clay.

I have purchased pottery clay and mixed it with varying amounts of water. It seems very similar to what I sink in but the pottery clay is harder to get off than what I sink in. This makes me think that there is more silt in what I sink in since it washes off a little easier than pottery clay.
