I don't think anyone is taking the threat, much less the remedy, very seriously. I have discussed a drones use as an aerial camera platform with one producer and I think that's a lot more likely to happen. Using one for local reconnaissance is a great idea as well.

Besides we've already dealt with passing fishermen, helicopters, boats, trains, etc simply by letting the ladies provide...umm...targeted distraction. It's proven highly effective in the past and I'm sure they could us it with equal skill against any airborne interloper. Switching off the brain of the operator is just as effective as a Patriot missile.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Indeed. After finishing my last shot of the season with Selene Drake I escorted her down to the river for a wash. As she was rinsing the mud from her hair and clothes she turned her head towards me as a whole boatload of fishermen came from around the corner and drifted down through the rapids. They were all smiles -- big, s**t-eating grins -- as they viewed her rather soiled, but otherwise appealing backside. I exchanged an evil, filthy smile of my own... ;)

Bird shot has several shot sizes that loose speed and "lethality " with distance, unlike rifle bullets which have distances of miles.

Firearms, you usually are looking for optimal, or "maximum" lethality. Anti-aircraft fire, it's more dodgy. But I think really, less a problem than you'd think :D

Reflecting on the issue some with a friend who has gotten into the drone thing big time, I suspect the next iteration of all of this will be counter drone drones that disable other drones!
