I'm grateful that this thread was started, and that people are contributing what they know to all of us.

Thank you.

As I said in my previous post, I think a wiki is the best approach, given that we have the tools to spread the contribution instead of relying on a few to launch the major effort, and especially does away with delegating the role of compiling the history.

One passing thought is can list some of our favorite shots from the likes of Kaol and Chuck Lang Foster Blake.
I am sure some of their work stands out for us.

I don't know if it is meant to start with the net or not. My first clue was a small ad in the back of a photography magazine that appeared to be a woman up to her chest in mud. That led me to the original messyfun periodical. His primary focus was coverage and mine was sinking so he referred me to the Mud Puddle BBS. From there, I interacted with Chuck Lang and Pete Boggs. In those few months before the internet and the newsgroups, there was quite a barter system going on. A story for a cartoon or photos and sometimes a video. I found that the muse works quite well with such an incentive :D

That is exactly how I ended up with 9 videos by Kaol and why Kaol's old, seemingly infinite website had so much Nessie artwork...and he even got some originals from me, carefully packed and mailed.

Somewhere in there was an 11 x 17 Elvira-in-Quicksand drawing. I cannot remember what it looked like any more. It didn't fit in my scanner. I packed it in a mailing tube.

Ok, I've been thinking about the Alan Parsons Quicksand Project for awhile. I've been researching options and idea's. I'm thinking we need something with a history and archive. The idea here is preservation. We can also bring the many QS related sites together via a directory. For an idea of what this would look like one should visit Internetarchive.org.

I think all this is straight forward, and based on the previous post, we all seem to agree this is the way to go. The next step would be to discuss what should be archived. This is most certainly going to take a community effort. I don't know about you guy's but I'm excited. As I said, I'm willing to host the site and maintain it, but I need to know the community as a whole is on board with this. What do you think should be archived?

I think I remember several Elvira drawings, in addition to the one Boggyman posted - although that was a good one. Some were drawings instead of manip's.

Yep, that link is full of my old art. It's nice to see it survives somewhere.

Actually, "Elvira And The Boggy Hands" is a photo manipulation, not a drawing...and...yes.

Those are your hands. I lifted them right off your website.

I am sorry, though, that it is only a photomanipulation of a fantasy. It would be much more awesome if the real Elvira would go sinking with you.

I remember drawing at least two. The huge Elvira was never posted anywhere at all. And now that I think about it...it may have been bigger than 11 x 17. So I really did earn a videotape or two.

I think I may have mailed the other as well. That one was of a normal size and Kaol posted it with a story he wrote. It's probably online somewhere but I don't see it on that link!

Oops, I wasn't reading things carefully enough. So it was an artwork, and not a photo manipulation. Perhaps if Kaol is reading this thread, he could take a photograph of your extra large Elvira drawing and post it, and perhaps your other drawing as well, to the "Drawings" forum. :)

It would definitely be awesome if Elvira went sinking with me, and have it captured on video (or just her sinking into my Crescent Road pond bog on video)! :D One week left before regular deer Hunting Season begins, which is September 10'th (deer season opened Sept 1'st for only youths and archers).
