Ancient photograph set - white dress at night

Question for the MPV crews: I remember a very very old set of photographs when our QS community was scattered between Kaol and Der Mud Gecko. It was a blonde woman, white evening dress, at night - she was lit by a light - sinking in black, blocky mud or clay. Struck me as a heroic effort to do that at night, and wondering about any history of that set.

That sounds like something the late, great Charles Lang shot with his wife, Mary, back in the early 1990s or perhaps even earlier.
There was a video clip of that in the National Geographic documentary Danger! Quicksand.

Sounds to me like one of Chuck Lang's series; likely one done at night, by what sounds on the video like a Coleman lantern for light, at one of the locations at Chester. If the file name is clwite with a following number my conjecture is confirmed.

Hey - the MPV crew is bigger than I thought.
I'll try to post a sample from that. Pretty sure it was slurry though. If memory serves, that's the scene where talks about there being "nothin' underneath me".

She did several very nice ones. I got a few on tape from an order while they were still being sold, but the quality (VHS) has faded over time. It would be great if she could be persuaded to release the collection.

The definition may be somewhat broad these days

That shot or series of shots may go back to when MPV was a BBS

Mmmm....
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Those were great scenes.
Inspired me to contact Chuck (what a nice man he was) then drive 500 miles to check out that slurry pit for myself.
Sadly, it was not in the same condition as when the scenes were done, but it was interesting.
Messy stuff too, that.
Cheers,
sp

Just out of curiosity, was it the familiar backgrounds used for manips in
this thread that reminded you of their source?
