Jungle Movie Idea: Curse of the Aztec Shaman

Curse of the Aztec shaman

I've read much of the old jungle explorer stories. so I figure I can whoop up a fairly short scene

Plot:

An archeologist digs deep into a burial despite the warnings from some of the locals nearby. She uncovers a relic only to hear unsettling noises in the jungle. She records in a journal of her concerns, only to stop short by a sight of a monster (which the viewers will never see) Quickly, she ran with her journal into the jungle, turning from all different directions, only to get stop and pulled into quicksand. As she slowly sinks, she looks up the sky with fear before she sinks from sight. What's left of her was the journal that remains on the forest floor, as if it wasn't quicksand at all. The movie ends with another female explorer drudging through the jungle, finding a journal on the dirt (note that this spot was the last place that the main character dies). A male voice ask the explorer what she found, and she replies that this book belongs to ***Main character*** before she disappears 3 years ago.

I say the story may take 10minutes long. It uses narration from the doom explorer (displaying her thoughts as she writes in her journal) with some jungle backgrounds, drums, and dark, suspense music.

Burial site/Tomb setting-

This set will mostly be done outdoors, since its the initial sight. My original thought was a ruins (most likely in a basement or tunnel to give a dank/dark appearance).

Camp setting-
The camp setting is the second short set, displaying a small camp, with a backpack, books, and equipment. We don't see the monster just the shadow. One way to do it is to tower over the explorer with the camera pointing at her

Jungle setting-

Using the outdoors provides an excellent chase scene. We observe the explorer dashing through the jungle like laura dern in Jurassic park..

Sinking setting- I had two idea of mine is either dark supernatural or just a simple sink.

Plop and sink Method: The explorer plops in and sinks from sight.

Supernatural: As explorer narrowly outruns the ghost, the ghost descends into the ground (using the camera pointing downward and into the dirt. think of the movie TREMORS).

The explorer stops, breath heavily and quickly turns around to see the monster, who is not in sight. She continues, but as she took a step, she wave her arms in balance as her feet were and looks down. The ground that was once solid liquefy and swallows up to her ankles. She tries to pull her legs out only to feel herself being pulled in to the ground.

The Supernatural method works by the use of cut scenes of her feet before and after the sink. The model needs to slowly bend down to portray herself sinking and eventually the scene is moved to an actual pit.

Ending Scene: The journal lays on the ground until another person (he or she) picks it up, reading the last words of the doomed explorer.
