Anyone in here from NE Florida?

Postby Sinkman61 » Thu Jul 03, 2014 2:01 am

Hello. I'm new to this site, but not new to the sinking scene, as I've been into sinking for more than 30 years. I've found some pretty awesome sinking sites in NE Florida. While I've always done my sinking by myself in the past, having someone to go with would be a lot more fun, as experiences should be shared whenever possible, which of course means having the right person to share with. That person(s) (male(s) or female(s)) need to enjoy semi-soft sticky, creamy deep mud in which they can sink deep into without panicing, as the mud I'm familiar with is so sticky that it'll hold you down below your buoyancy point making it just that much harder to get out of. Mud that'll close in and press against the sides of your head as you start to slid down below the surface, making it just that much harder to get out of. Mud whose surface is too soft for your arms to press down against, making it even harder. Mud so deep that as you look to the stars just to hold your nose above the ever closing mudhole marking your last known location, you toes point downward as you stretch your legs as far as possible in search of a bottom that's simply too far below to reach. ... and such mud has been found right in our little corner of the state.

Oh man! You make that mud so inviting and delicious. It's a shame I'm 1,000 miles away from your corner of the world. Damn!

No way! I'm in Jacksonville. Where is this magical place you're talking about?
Where's the mud at?

For those of you in NE Florida, the Guana Reserve along the coast has some of the best tidal mud flats you'll find anywhere and happen to have some of the best mud I've ever had the chance to sink in. Frankly, it's better than quarry mud which is normally really good in itself if deep enough. But Guana Reserve is around 40,000 acres of pristine wildlife habitat meaning that your going to find a butt load of privacy when in here. Parking is easy if you don't mind a hike in, but if you've got a boat, getting in the area's even easier, as you can avoid the numerous oyster beds and land yourself smack on the mud flats. If hiking in, make sure to wear good boots, as the oysters can really tear you up should the ground beneath them suddenly let loose. Anyhow, if there's anyone around who wants to make a day of it with me, just leave me a message. Keep in mind the tides when planning an outing here, as the area is best entered when the tide is about an hour before low, giving you the time needed to hike into the area with the mud flats, as they get covered up when the tide comes in, erasing any marks you may have left in the mud. Happy sinking everyone!!!!

I would totally be up (or down) for a mud day! I've never gone in tidal mud, but that sounds awesome!

I live west of Jacksonville. I would be up for some sinking in Jax or st Augustine. I know some good places there where we can sink without being in view of the public :D

Please let me know if you are interested.

MUDMAN4, SUBDUDEWITHROPE, sorry it's taken me awhile to respond. I've not been in here and because I don't have enough post, I can't reply to private messages. Some really stupid rule they set up. Anyhow, I love going on adventures into muddy areas, and if I happen to sink up too my crotch, oh well. But sinking chest deep is really...better (and you thought I was going to say scary). Even better is when the mud closes in over my shoulders and starts pressing in on my cheeks. And there's plenty of mud in our part of the state as long as you know where to look. Just send me a message if your interested and I'll change my settings in here so you can get in contact with me. 8-)

SINKMAN61, yes I'd be interested in having a partner along for fun. I think it's safer too to have a buddy just in case. Please let me know when you'd be interested in an outing. Thanks.
