Anyone ever run into others like us at a sinking hole? Someone else was at my special place, looks like they enjoyed themselves. evidence suggests that I missed them by a short amount of time as their tracks appeared to be from earlier today. They left tracks to the deepest part and looks like they had a good struggle and got in there real good then left a muddy pair of boxer shorts on the shore on their way out. Looks like im not the only one enjoying this...

Oh whoa, that's crazy. Nah, never happened to me before. Whereabouts is your place that has apparently become communal?

Never been "caught", fortunately. But actually, I found my first spot of genuine 100% quicksand because of seeing barefoot prints on a harmless looking sandbar in a small stream.

Female prints, too, if I had to guess. Makes one wonder "What if?"

I know other people use my favourite creek & I have met some there by arrangement Also have seen footprints which only last a short time because of the strong tides A few weeks ago I arrived at low tide & saw 2 people on the opposite shore about 100yds away. Said "Oh bother" or similar & settled down to wait them out No such luck! One stayed put but the other went off down the creekside, over the edge & vanished Reasoning that 1 at least was mud friendly I carried on into the mud & had a delightful time. I was partly hidden & did not go down into the deep mud-in full view- but stayed in the hidden, shallow mud When I was finished I went up to the river to wash & was joined after a few minutes by a mud covered guy & his partner (clean) We started chatting & he turned out to be a mudbuddy from the Mudboy UK group As his partner was there it seemed tactful to depart quickly & I was cold anyway What are the odds against (a) meeting someone (b)meeting an acquaintance ?

On my very first sink with Kaol in Chester, we saw signs that people had sunk there previously but that location was known to members of our community. Kaol filmed there and so did MPV. I sometimes recognize my sinking pond in old clips by both producers.
I have never met a soul at any of my own locations. But I have often thought about this. There are only so many great locations in any given area.
And that is why I never, ever give out a location nor do I state exactly where I live. I only advise people on ways to look for good locations. Looking for deep mud is not really rocket science.
If I ever say exactly where I am, I know that people here in Quicksand-Land will be Google-Earthing everything around a 50-mile radius of me...and someday, there'll be somebody using my mudpit when I get there!
