Quicksand Fans

Perhaps it's just me, but it seems like the only visible critics of our particular interest of choice are...rather terrible critics.

Specifically, I was browsing youtube, when I came across a video by user distortedviewshow, (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1uFVx2zuHw), who spent a good two minutes discussing "Mud and Quicksand Porn." He was kind enough to point out QuicksandVisuals, as well as this very messageboard, Quicksand Fans.

Now, I'm not sure if I should call him a critic, because all he does is point out we exist. To me, he comes off more as amused rather than demeaning. However, the comment section is filled with people like eatdatpussy445, who seem to be okay with Hentai or videos involving tentacle rape, but not grim videos such as "Ribbon Babes" or "Ignorance is Bliss."

This got me thinking. Even though grim videos only make up only a fraction of the videos on this site, let's assume for the moment that people only have a problem with those specific videos. A number of people on the internet have seen women get raped by tentacles, and were less disturbed than the damsel in quicksand snuff films. Does that mean that people are more likely to negatively react to snuff films than rape films? Personally, I like to think that surviving rape is as bad if not worse than dying. Whether it is or not, if people have problems with one, they should have problems with both.

And yet, neither the critics nor the complainers really get into the deeper issues. They seem to just scoff, as if to say, "Well, look at these wierdos." Is it simply a case of idiots amusing themselves with things nobody else gives a second thought? Are any first-rate critics tackling the topic?

I'd be interested in seeing something new, rather than these, "The hell did I just watch?" video commentaries.

Being critical of something does not make one a critic. I think you made this point in your last paragraph - I just thought this was a good rhetorical way to put it. I would add one point, however. A scene in which a character dies or is killed is not a snuff film. I believe the term is more properly used to mean a film in which a person is killed for real or in which that person is purported to have been killed for real. Obviously this sort of thing would be reprehensible at best.

Yeah they are and I just leave it at that. Some just like to make noise, bored kids, etc. Many are simple idiots. Youtube appears to be where the most moron of all humanity converges to spout their brilliance. I'm convinced if we killed off the top ten percent of YouTube comment posters it would dramatically raise the collective I.Q. of humanity. They are just howling barn cats. Pay them no mind.

Its bullshit on a Youtube vid; who gives a rusty fuck? Comments there tend to be what Duncan just said, a collection of clueless infantile retards who I wont waste the oxygen on even clicking to read them. They the type who do online what they'd never dare do face to face, since you'd either crush their fucking windpipe or use their balls and hair as handles to smash their face through concrete until the screaming stopped.

There are many YT commenters that deserve exactly what you described.

As for this vid? I would say probably 90% of any video made about sinking fetishes will be similar to this one. It takes a fetishist to know one.

Tempting as it may be, my policy is "Don't feed the trolls." "Trolling" is simply a desperate plea for attention. I've heard it called "The soggy potato chip theory." Everybody likes fresh, crispy potato chips, but if the only potato chips you can get are stale, soggy ones, they're better than nothing. It's the same way with attention. Bored, lonely people will deliberately make nasty comments on YouTube vids, just to get people to respond. It's probably the only social interaction they get, and negative attention is better than silence. I've seen this a lot with little kids and pets- if they're being ignored, they'll deliberately do something to get in trouble, just to get some attention.

That is true. A snuff movie is a movie where someone really dies.

But if the term "snuff" did apply to depicted deaths, that Titanic movie...with 1,517 real deaths depicted in the film, would be the most reprehensible movie of all time. And if you bought a ticket to see it, what awful things must be lurking in your psyche!

We're going to be seeing more of these critics. Quicksand is losing its secrecy. There isn't much we can do about it as it's a natural progression of the Internet. It is happening with many things, and will eventually happen to everything, and our community will have to find a way to adjust to it.

I for one plan to simply stop reading any of this crap. Many "critics" don't actually have brain cells and what I don't know won't damage any of mine.

Anyway, I simply do not need the approval of others to justify my quicksand. What I do hurts no one, and my four models were not snuffed. They received good paychecks. I'll never forget one of them receiving her handful of cash...she said, "Thank you so much! Now I will make my rent this month."

Yes...quicksand...it is a terrible thing.
