Well, ya know I'm here, lol. Poser 6 currently. Haven't tried DAZ Studio yet.

DAZ Studio 3.1, was the last one that I liked

I haven't tried it. But it seems pretty cool from the images I see here.

It's very cool and a lot of fun to do. Especially, if you're like me and can't freehand draw for squat. But yeah, if you want to bring the images in your head to life, it's a pretty sweet medium. It takes some practice but I highly recommend it. If you're thinking about giving it a try, be sure to get a decent photo editing program too, for adding detail. I'm currently using Photoshop Elements 4.0 for that. All my stuff is like 8 - 9 years old but it still does a nice job when I can convince it to work.

I use Poser Pro 2014 which lets me import poser scenes and animation into Lightwave, which lets me do all kinds of crazy stuff you can't do in poser.

As some of you know, I'm working an ~half hour movie that will have snake vore, plant vore, and of course...QUICKSAND!

It's going to be epic!

I don't use Poser anymore, but I do use Carrara that can use the same content, as well as a whole lot more. The renderer is a little aged, but the shader system is still one of the best ones out there and it also has environmental and duplication tools that Poser/DAZ don't have. I like to make my own environments so I can move the pictures around in 3D space, which this program lets me do. Plus you can individually save assets without saving as full scenes, so I find it is easier to work from as I add things as I need them.

Would love to have a group where we could discuss the technical aspects together. I've been doing this for almost 10 years, but I still have a lot to learn (but maybe a few things to share as well).

Follow up on my prior post about a discussion for other DAZ/Poser users. Would you all find it helpful to have this discussion? I know there is a lot we could discuss about technique, modeling, which models to use, lighting, postwork, etc. In the past in a prior group we had a writers workshop that I think helped, so maybe something like that for us might also be good?

I'm thinking maybe we should start some threads over at the Quicksandland site (http://quicksandland.com/). It's supposed to be for producers and writers to discuss technical aspects of their work, so it seems appropriate. Plus I think it might be a good "safe space" to post images and get critiques/feedback without airing that before the general community. Gives everyone a chance to get a letter better.

Might also be good to set up a thread for new users who want to get started.

Just a thought, let me know. I'm willing to give it a try.
