For me, it is the experience and the especially the tactile feel of slowly being swallowed by the ground (the thicker the better), imagining that there is no escape! In my fantasies, I wonder how something that feels so soft and cushiony, and farts swamp gas could be so deadly! Fighting against ground that heaves and pulsates, and slowly consumes me like a hungry living creature, unable to escape from my fate, are what really gets me excited! And then, seeing others struggle to try to prevent themselves from suffering the same fate in deadly sucking mire , either succumbing to the muck or just barely managing to escape with their lives, with me knowing exactly how it feels, really excites me as well!

i'm in the group that is drawn to dramatic sinking, damsels in distress, as shown in my avatar... quicksand is only one of the classic peril situations (like tied to the train tracks, or under a descending pendulum), but it's alway been one of my favorites... the damsel doesn't even have to be bound since quicksand is like Nature's Bondage
oh, and while some of us prefer what's called the "grim ending", in my corner of the world damsels always escape or get rescued

Boggy Man puts it far better than I can. I think my fetish is a form of bondage with the mud/clay/qs acting as the bonds.
