Quicksand Fans

Had to make a delivery in northern Staten Island NY and had to use Google Maps.
I saw numerous areas on the map with names like "Graniteville Swamp" " Old Place Creek Tidal Wetlands Area" and "Mariners Marsh Park" as well as numerous other little parks affected by the same tidal wetlands.
Has anyone ever explored these areas? Are there any trails through these parks/wetlands with access to quicksand like areas?

I can recall a place called Wolf's Pond Park in Staten Island. Places there was like a tidal marsh. I would go to a section where the water appeared shallow but the surrounding shore was quite muddy. I would walk near the shore of it kinda cautiously because the ground felt a little spongy and unstable. But it was quite muddy and deeper when you get near the water spot. Throw a rock and it would break though the ground and disappear.
I went there many years ago with a female friend. She wandered near the water when her feet sank right into the mud. It looked just like quicksand the way the ground seemed to shimmy and quiver. For a moment it looked like I would have to go in there and rescue her from the Quagmire Of Doom, but she just plopped right out and laughed. That spot intrigued me for a long time. I think now the authorities are draining that area to make it safer.

Just remember, in the waters around NYC, you don't drown- you dissolve.
