Google Maps is your friend. I looked around the area and there are plenty of rivers and public parks where you can explore.

On Hwy 224 east of Deerfield where it crosses that lake years ago I found chest deep mud in what looks like a pond on the southwest side of the bridge

Thank you, is there any other tips you have once I'm there? Anything from finding the spots to staying away from the public eye.

Adventure adventure adventure. Check every little nook and cranny, especially if it's a wetlands area. You would be amazed with the amount of awesome mud you can find by just looking around. Monitor the local hydrology forecasts to see if rivers and lakes will be up too far, hiding mud. Every place should be checked throughout the year, you never know what can appear. As for staying out of the public's eye, don't do this near trails and houses. Period. Or do it at night. Always have a alibi ready to go (unless you are okay with telling them about the fetish.)

Also with the silty mud you are most likely going to find, I recommend wearing some sort of pants. In forests the mud ends up with tons of little sticks and rocks and shit and it tears the hell out of bare skin.
