Re: camping locations?
Check out this thread. Wolf Creek is not too far from the "East Of Edson" campground. I suggested in that thread Elk Island National Park, especially the Hayburger Trail, but apparently, it sounds like the quicksand there isn't so pristine, although you could still try checking it out, just in case.
Here is a Google Maps link to zoom in on and explore. The Hayburger Trail is on the east side of 831, and to the south of that jig in the road, the lower half of that dark green forested area there. I can't help but feel that this area may possibly be one location, but can't be certain. Just an attempt to try figuring out where this YouTube video was filmed, although it could be in a completely different part of that trail.
There could be other regions in the park that could be possible candidates for harboring quicksand too. Only through exploration can it be determined if there is viable stuff, in a location that is hidden from any of the trails. But, water levels can't be too high, or things will be submerged.
This area with an interesting bog has a public lake nearby north of the highway, but I don't know if it is day use only, or if camping is allowed. There is a creek just west of it with mud bars that look interesting(mentioned/shown in the thread in the first link), if you can find a decent one that is out of view of the highway.
Hope this helps.
