I’m just curious where is the sinking spot in Orleans Massachusetts? The pin point is just in a pretty public area.

Sorry for the delay getting the Protected Map updated. I've been without internet for a while.

61 new pins have been added to the protected map.
(Sure, over 40 of them were me, marking places near me to explore when summer comes. (It's Winter in Australia currently)

There was an error in One column of KMZ data when importing the map, but i can't see anything out of place. If you notice an error, or a pin that's outright missing (But is in the Edit Map) please point it out to me.

I'm totally new to the appalachia area. Any spots near southern virginia? Or does anyone have any recommendations on how to start searching for spots? I'm familiar with looking in the deserts of Utah but the dense forests are quite a bit different.

The quarry near Gore, Virginia looks like it might have a mudpit...

Actually, I spotted it long ago before we had Google satellite view while flying over it in a plane. I've kept up with it on Google satellite view over the years in hope I might one day visit it. Access looks very difficult however as that place is so large it may operate 24/7. Let me know if you ever decide to venture over that way as I may be able to assist in devising a way to approach.

As to how, well, finding mudpits is what I do as if I don't have a mudpit, well it's time to go find one. Actually locating a possible mudpit on Google satellite view is something of an art. Me, I've got a lot of experience going back to when I used to fly a lot of places, so I tend to spot things that others often miss. The hard part is picking up on some sort of visual clue when looking at a large scale view. Quarries usually scar the landscape and are often a different color.
