Yes, I have done exactly that. However, there are some fairly obvious difficulties that make this difficult. To do the scene with a real car would require a, well,... real car. This means a very large pit, and then use of heavy equipment to remove the car after the scene is done. This leaves several possibilities, use of miniatures, some sort of CGI, or a partial car. The CGI is out, for me, because I have no idea how to do it. The miniature idea is something I experimented with several years ago. While certain parts of the scene could be done that way, other parts are, I think, too difficult to be done well enough. That leaves a partial car. I think this has real possibilities but will require someone who can build the prop. At the least, a partial car would need a driver's side, a roof, a front end, and a back end, although not necessarily in a single piece. The partial car would not have to be full-sized but would have to be close. Selection of an unusual model would help hide from recognition details that would be omitted.
Aside from the Guns of Darkness remake, I think quite a few scenes involving vehicles could be made, so if anyone out there can make a suitable prop, please feel free to speak up.

its one of the best qs scenes on film . if i had the resources i would love to tape a scene where a woman makes a wrong turn in a car and ends up in
quicksand . i know there is safety factors involved ...im just "thinking out loud ."
