The Sign of the Cross, 1932

Just obtained this ancient Cecil B. DeMille feature and one famous sequence has Claudette Colbert taking a milk bath. Now this must have been awful for her in the hot studio lights, but the attached pics, without toooooo much imaginative thought, fit our group nicely. Just change white to grey.

It's not milk. It is really crystal-bright, snow-white kaolin clay.

Anybody care to imagine what the studio set smelled like after a few hours of milk (presuming old DeMille used the real thing as he likely would) under really HOT lights? One has to give Claudette a round of applause for that scene under any circumstance.

What were they thinking? Pure white kaolin clay is odorless.
