Quicksand Fans

I'm new to this website but have had a sinking fetish all my life. I have a pond with about a foot of mud in my backyard but that's the closest I've been to an actual sink. I was hoping you guys could recommend some up-to-date spots in Washington State, preferably near central Washington, that would be good for a first-timer.

Hey there, I'm also looking for other WA state sinkers, as well as locations. The usual "look for rivers on google maps" response does not help at all.
Like where do I drive to? Where do you park? Do you walk along a highway? What do you DO in order to GET to these places?

I'm in the Olympia area myself.

I think that you guys are going to have to do some real work in order to find locations.
Google Earth is the best tool IMO.
Then it helps to be into kayaking or bicycling.

Many of my threads talk about how I have found my locations. I am not going to rehash them here.

Maybe someday someone will build a mud theme park near you.

Have you guys looked around in Oregon at all? Or near the coasts?

If you are near Spokane, Haag Cove Campground near Columbia River is a good place. However, because of the Grand Coulee Dam, the mud is only exposed when the water level is low. Only early May and early Sep are available to play.

The tidal mud at Coos Bay in Oregon is the place many mudmen in your area mention from time to time...

This is my exact problem. I would have SO many opportunities to explore... EXCEPT where do I park? Leaving your car next to the road around here usually means you've broken down and need help, so that's a non-option. Locations to explore with parking nearby are few and far between.

Some, yes. Others, not really.

The best option when dealing with locations that are difficult to park near or bicycle/walk to is to make friends with another mudman and you and he can take turns dropping each other off and picking each other up...
