Happy 10th Birthday Quicksandfans!

Hi All,
It's April 15th, tax time here in the US, which means it's also time to recognize another anniversary of Quicksandfans. And this is our 10th!
For those who are relatively new here, Quicksandfans was conceived and designed and launched during the first two weeks of April, 2009. I designed the board, and Kookus (thank you always!) implemented the software and did some basic customization. He also performs periodic maintenance. The original concept was that the board would be supported and directed by the community producers, with the main goal of having just one location for quicksand themed discussion and content. This worked for a while. But when this principle was compromised, I decided to make MPV the sole sponsor and leader for Quicksandfans. We will continue like this for the foreseeable future. During the next year, I will strive to put a succession plan in place, should anything happen to me.
I think that the participation in, and relevance of the board is still very good. We have lost some active members over the last few years, producer output is less diverse, and QSF now has to compete with more proactive electronic platforms for attention. These factors, and the fact that the community has matured another ten years, mean that daily traffic is not what it used to be. However, I am especially pleased to see that the Member Submission area is still lively. For me, this is always the most rewarding aspect of creating Quicksandfans.
Looking forward, I may consolidate the Producer Area due to changes that have occurred over the last few years. Nothing will be deleted. It will simply be a matter of maintaining the freshness of that area. As it happens, we may be adding a new forum there later this year. I doubt that QSF will ever be 'mobile friendly'. The density of textual information is generally too high for that. And needless to say, visual content is what drives a lot of the discussion here. Tablets, laptops and PCs will always fare better here.
Also, it's ok to lurk here. Participation is always good, even if it's just to encourage people posting stuff that you like. But to be honest, if I were a member here, I would be a lurker. I ended up doing what I do because of some early contacts (in search of content) and a couple twists of fate. And then, one thing led to another. But seriously, I am a voyeur/looker by nature, and not socially ambitious. So, although some might take a different posture regarding participation here, I am here for the lurkers.
Anyways, please let me know if you have any comments, questions or concerns. The next ten years will be fun here, especially if we keep QSF focused on the needs of our community.
