Quicksand Fans

I'm new to sinking, and delighted to have found an exceptionally appealing sink spot.
100% natural, with a nearly unlimited weekly deposit of organic matter and silt. It resembles a thick green puree of mushy spinach. This has pooled over years against a tiny dam, and I have a sneaking suspicion it's near bottomless.
Next a commercial district, traffic is moderate till late night. But access would be a cinch, a matter of stepping from the sidewalk and slipping over the embankment into the privacy of the reeds.
Fed by a culvert creek near a marsh, cleanup is feasible.

I've past the spot many times on my route home, wishing I could try it.
Quite tempted to toss caution to the wind, along with my knickers, and sink into what I think will be silken, velvet bliss?
Our bouyancy makes death in mud, or quicksand impossible, correct?. So then my only real concern is extraction and privacy?

I must stress I have zero QS/ mud experience. But from my reading, it seems avid sinkers survive to post in the forums. That said, I'd rather not learn the downsides of our pastime the hard way.
Certainly not as my woeful grasp of physics sees me sucked out of sight.
As said, it appears a very soupy mixture, like stepping into a thick tub of deep algae.
Does an inflated flotation aid--ie : swim ring--help in these conditions.

Would appreciate your thoughts and cautions.

our natural buoyancy makes it very hard to sink past a certain point, but by no means is it impossible. Never assume you can't go below your buoyancy point. other than that, you should be just fine. If it's your first time ever sinking I would try and go down to about knee deep and then get out, then a little deeper, and repeat so you can get a feel for what you can escape from. search this board for all the posts about safety & how to escape for more on that. TLDR: you can sink past your buoyancy point, never assume that you cant. I cannot stress this enough

It's a bad idea to go into a (possibly) deep area without experience. Also go and find a place that's more secluded, it sounds you could easily be seen.
Although you won't drown you will make the fire-service come after you

Much thanks guys. Here's to that time tested adage about trusting your gut.
Some valuable advice protecting me from raging embarrassment, and a photo in the times--at best; or likely a very unpleasant demise.

I think I need to buddy with an experienced sinker at the very least.
That mud hole will have to wait!
