I have a fun question for everyone here (and I hope I am posting in the right catagory here)
In a TV show or movie that has a quicksand scene, where do you think is the best place for the scene:
At the beginning
In the middle
At the end
Doesn't matter

Answer #1: Every five minutes from beginning to end.

Answer #2: Wherever it makes sense, given the story.

Honestly, I think in the middle. Especially if it is a male rescuing female scene. That allows for time to build up and know the characters. You care about the woman in peril. Then comes the drawn out QS scene and rescue. Then comes the inevitable romantic element after the rescue. That is the classic jungle scenario, a-la "Tarzan's Hidden Jungle" or "Valley of Mystery."

But really, any scene at any time that is well done is a welcome scene.

If the show is good, we won't care where the sinking occurs. We'll be entertained by the entire show and and the time that passes before the sinking will go fast. The sinking, when it arrives, will make sense with the plot, be well-acted, and realistic...with good mud too.

If the show is bad, hurry up with it...right at the beginning, please, maybe before the title even comes on or the theme music starts, so all the people on this forum don't have to copy the WHOLE dismal thing just to get that one little sinky nugget.
