The Great Swamp opens its gates

Postby Aiko » Sun Mar 15, 2020 9:52 pm

And here it is: http://thegreatswamp.xyz/

It may not like like much yet, but the place is all mine. :D If you browse the gallery you will find pictures that I have previously shared here on QSF (except the full size images there are the original PNG, whereas here I usually share JPEG to save space). Of course there is more to come... given time.

Thanks! It's only just the beginning. I just added another gallery with a few pictures of myself.

I saw it and it is amazing!

One question though: Is there any plan on how regularly are you going to release new stuff, or will it happen every once in a while, when you have enough pictures to post?

Thanks for dropping by!

Well, I do plan to write a post at least once a week. Though that does not mean I will always have new content (aside from the post itself). Today however, I did add something new. Well, old stuff actually, but I really wanted to open the story section at last. :D

Nice site! I thought about opening a site for years, there was something fun about Web 1.0.

Do you use any Web Template / content management software or just hand code the HTML?

I thought about this for quite a while and considered various CMS and site generators (and tried a few of them) until I eventually ended up with Hugo. It's fairly straight-forward and still pretty extensible and powerful. To date I have barely scratched the surface of what it can do. I use a very minimalist theme named Sam which I have only modified a little bit. Down the road I might switch to something more complex or just keep making modifications that suit my needs. Not sure about that yet. Right now it serves its purpose and I concern myself more with creating content.
