Kansas City Locations

Hello all, I appreciate you for taking the time to look at this post, even though it is another location asking post, I do apologize.
I will be going out to KC for 1 to 3 weeks for vacation and was wondering if there was any good mud spots anywhere from an hour or so outside of the city. I have already been looking at maps to see potential spots. I also wanted to ask if anyone knew if the Kansas river and Missouri river's water was clean enough to be in. I wouldn't want to find riverbank mud and the actual river be polluted with something I didn't know about. Anyway, any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!
