Building a clay pit.
Building a clay pit and trying to find a good type of Bentonite. do I want cosmetic grade or sodium bentonite. Can't narrow down what to get.

Your budget will solve the question for you I think. Sodium bentonite will swell (absorb water) much more than calcium bentonite.

My clay pit uses sodium bentonite from Wyoming.

Yes, among other things. I believe there is also a variety that is specifically used as a lubricant in oil well drilling, but that variety has some additives you probably should avoid.
