Missed Opportunities

Postby rhinodynamo » Sun Dec 20, 2020 1:18 am

Which TV shows or movies do you think would have been perfect for quicksand scenes, but never contained one? For me, Black Sails and Supernatural were the two shows that missed a chance. Movie-wise, for me, it was Anaconda.

Well I never actually watched it but "Swamp Thing" is a pretty obvious choice. Add to that every Tarzan and Jungle Jim flick that didn't have one.

Agreed. I’m still keeping an eye on Swamp Thing.

Sonic Adventure 2 comes to mind.

Think of it: Desert Levels, with quicksand, and the sole female in that game isn't subjected to the quicksand. At all.

Wonder Woman, especially if some villain found a way to remover her belt so she's just a damsel in the mire

Fucking LOBSTERMAN FROM MARS!!!!!

the worst missed opportunity ever.
I mean, the fucking lobster chased sexy-ass Deborah Foreman right to the bubbling, steaming quicksand (with a sign and everything) and........fucking nothing.

For me it was 'Lost". When those two women were running through the jungle just to stumble into a muddy field! Why couldn't be quicksand having the two of them struggling to get out! A 'LOST' opportunity!!
Tarzan to Jill Hardy: Girl be still. Not sink!!"
From "Valley Of Mystery" : Don't struggle and do not thrash around; that just makes things worse!

Deborah Foreman dressed the way she was. Would have been one for the epic scene catalog. :o
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

Maybe Deborah would like to revitalize her career by correcting the oversight. I know where that might be done.

That whole film was intended to be a spoof of '50s B-movies, so to set up a qs scene like that only for nothing to come of it was likely all part of the joke. An early example of film studios subverting our expectations, much to out chagrin.
