A lot of stuff has moved either to social media, like twitter (which is notoriously poor for discoverability) or Discord servers (which are part of the ungoogleable deepweb). So your methods of discovering new content may need to change. I also think that the traditional "pay per view" porn model (which seems really common across WAM / sinking stuff for some reason?) is being superseded by subscription based platforms such as Patreon and OnlyFans. I haven't really seen many quicksand producers on these platforms though, and I'm kinda wondering when they're going to make the leap.

There also seems to be a decent amount of muddy content (and WAM stuff in general) coming out of Japan and China right now. I don't speak either of those languages though so again finding that content is pretty difficult.

I think that Patreon and Onlyfans are good for content/personalities with broad appeal, but not for niche content. You're right about Social Media though. Once a platform like Twitter gets an idea of what you're interested in, you don't have to look for anything. It comes right at you.

But the number of views I get here tells me that there are still hundreds of folks who like coming here looking for stuff. That's good enough for me to keep the lights on.

We're getting close to launching a sister forum to this - and it may very well have a Discord Server as a companion to it. We'll see.

when i saw the name of this thread i thought it referred to the news item from this week:
https://www.scientificamerican.com/arti ... o-extinct/

so i was relieved that instead of a grim discussion of the end of humanity, we're talking about the "extinction" of this site

i hope not, not for a long while at least--- but i was first intrigued by beautiful damsels sinking decades before i found this site, and i'll still be intrigued if it can't go on

“The more things change, the more things stay the same.”

“Cordon Bleu!”

“It takes a lot of cocaine to keep a French President going.”

“Victor Hugo was thinking of Hugh Jackman playing his leads whenever he wrote.”

- Some French sayings.

Joking aside, our fetish is very, very old.
How it is expressed, communicated to others and shared in both subcultural and mainstream mediums has changed much over the centuries.
But as long as there are human beings with biological flesh, some of us will get various forms of pleasure from imagining themselves, or others, sinking into substances or landscape.

Anyone with the slightest inclination toward the fetish is now buried in an avalanche of material with a little Googling. The fetish is there but the ways to explore it have become a lot more diverse.

Agreed. I think more people around the world are opening up to it, and there are a lot of younger folks into it (or discovering their interest in it).

I'm also active on Twitter and very active on Instagram. Find me if you can! ;)

Well, it's for sure some things aren't what they were, no surprise there really however I too sense that something has peaked and yet a new paradigm has not yet arisen. I am a quarryman who actually does mudpits and from that perspective I can confirm that there are many more folks self identifying as quarrymen, many of which may actually have a single quarry visit under their belt, yet, ironically, there are fewer quarrymen out there interested in actually having the company of other quarrymen on a quarry expedition...

This is a change that began some time ago but that has become obvious in the last decade. So, what we are looking at is that from as far back in time as when we all rode dinosaurs to school, quarrymen were always looking for other quarrymen to hang out with in person, preferably at a mudpit, then, one day that started changing. And that change has become the norm, very few quarrymen have any real interest in meeting each other even though they represent their interests otherwise...

So, by definition, true fetish behavior is always a solitary activity as if the activity is shared with others, it becomes just kinky good fun. There are more quarrymen now than ever before, but far fewer you'll ever meet...

Rather than use a word like "extinction", I'd prefer to use a word like "change". No surprise there really either, after all, "the time they are 'a changing"...

I will add a different (my) perspective.

I love that this forum is relatively small. Its more manageable and not over bearing. For the most part, we recognize each others screen names. And content still flows in from our producers.

I think the platforms to host and see content is sort of like the music industry. There are many platforms. If you are old school and you like physical media, there are blu rays/DVDs (Just like in the music scene Vinyl sales are up year after year).

If you lean more to Twitter/InstaGram there are tons of content there.

And like I mentioned in the previous comment, Reddit is alive and well (as well as this forum) so there are no shortage of traditional forums.

Studio588/Fred, and JumpOffJoe have been producing some of the best stuff ever, and that is recent. Dave/MPV have a massive (buffet) library of amazing content that will take years before we exhaust/see it all. We live in a great time right now. There's just a massive amount of content. And we have great producers.

If, for some reason, all quicksand producers were to stop producing content tomorrow, I would still say we are truly blessed. We have a massive library of scenes and I'm grateful not only for all the work these producers have done but seeing some of the best Quicksand scenes I have ever seen (Nyssa HWQS Black Dress, Blow Gun Series, DIDVPs VAT, JumpOffJoe's Swamp Mermaid).

I think we are far from extinction. I think we have a bright future ahead (maybe not in hollywood) and I think we have yet to unearth a lot of what has been produced.

Poetry, brother. Well stated. Couldn't agree more.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

As I type this, there are currently 41 people visiting the forum. Given the comparatively small number of people with our interest, and the fact that it's just a regular Wednesday afternoon, I'd say that's pretty decent.
Personally, I'm also glad that we're not a huge group with a more common fetish. It makes it feel like you guys and gals are more like family or close friends. :)
I've never had the slightest interest in Twitter or Instagram or any of those sort of social media platforms. QSF will always be my quicksand home for as long as it lasts. It's a lovely little semi-private corner of the internet where I can be my muddy, sloppy self and post my pics and my comments and not have to worry about actual family members (who do use social media) accidentally stumbling across my quirk.
Long Live QSF!!! :D
How long did Tarzan watch before deciding to save Jill..?
